Interfaith Service & Blessing of the Animals Kick-off SGVPride 2018

For the first time, we'll kick-off our Festival with an Interfaith Service and a Blessing of the Animals! This will be at 11:00am. in our SGVPride Festival on October 13th at Pasadena's Central Park.

Rev. Dr. Pat Langlois, Senior Pastor at MCC United Church of Christ in the Valley is coordinator and working with SGV area Churches and the LAQUICC (Los Angeles Queer Interfaith Clergy Council). This had been a mainstray at the CSW/LA Pride event. SGVPride is pleased and honored to bring this back to a Pride event!

Also, the feast of St Francis of Assisi is annually celebrated on October 4th worldwide. It remembers the life of St Francis, the Catholic Church’s patron saint of animals and the environment. Our blessing of the animals a week later and we feel it is no less important to our community to bless their "fur babies" in a welcoming, supportive environment. This year, in our first year, the blessing is for Cats & Dogs (on a leash or in a carrier) only.

PLEASE NOTE: It can be quite warm in Pasadena in October. While there are a good number of shade trees in Central Park, we encourage you to participate in this morning Service & Blessing and then take your fur babies home. Re-entry to the Festival s not a problem as the event is FREE to the public!
