San Gabriel Valley Pride Presents the 95th Rose Queen® in

Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Parade

Shows her support of the LGBT community

Pasadena, CA, May 8, 2013:  The Board of Directors of San Gabriel Valley Pride is please to announce that Ms. Vanessa Manjarrez, the 95th Rose Queen® of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses®, will be riding in the SGVP entry in the Long Beach LGBT Pride Parade on Sunday May 19, 2013 in downtown Long Beach.

The entry, entitled "Pride of the San Gabriel Valley," will feature Ms. Manjarrez as well as board members of SGVP demonstrating the City of Pasadena’s support of the LGBT community and diversity.

Rose Queen® Vanessa Natalie Manjarrez, 17, lives in Pasadena and attends Mayfield Senior School, where she is on the Diversity Committee and Advising Council.  She also participates in the Dance Conservatory and is involved with the National Charity League, the Pasadena Humane Society and Villa Esperanza.

“It was so generous of San Gabriel Valley Pride to invite me to be part of its entry in the Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade. I appreciate the opportunity to participate and I can’t wait to see all the people who will be on hand for ’30 Years Proud’ said Vanessa.

When it's all over, aside from her 2013 New Year's Day duties, she will have attended nearly 150 public and media functions during her year in the spotlight, spreading the word about the Tournament and Pasadena.

We're all San Gabriel Valley Pride no matter if you're an exhibitors & sponsors to one of our dedicated volunteers, to those that donate financially or in kind to those who just keep the Pride spirit alive through word of mouth conversation we have daily.

Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities are available and are being sought prior to our upcomng event for 2013.  Before the event, locals can email us at info@sgvpride.org for more information. Be sure to tell us about you, your experience, and and how you would like to be of help!

 

OPPORTUNITIES -

 
  • Set-up
    • Help exhibitors off-load materials and monitor the exhibitors product/materials while they park their vehicles). 
  • Tear-down
    • Help exhibitors pack-up materials and watch their stuff/materials while they get their car). 
  • Attendants at Workshops, Readings and Speaking Events. 
    • Help attendees with directions to other workshops, restrooms, and distribute and collect event materials and forms. 
  • Festival Production Assistants assigned as needed at the event. 
    • Messengers or couriers for exhibitors and SGVPride staff as needed during the event. 
  • A/V Tech and Entertainment Assitance
    • Assist as needed with set-up and tear down of event, stage and technical equipment.
  • Car Show attendants
    • To work with Car Show Chair to assist in roll-in and roll-out, help public vote on choice(s) as needed and assist with award presentation, as needed.
  • The Big Draw LA/Art Event
    • Help the public draw/paint as we participate in a county-wide Arts Experience;  assist the public to help us create an image that shows our commitment to LGBT community unification and equality.
  • Event "paparazzi"!
    • To wander the event and take digital still pictures (Must remain/be retained sole property of SGVPride, Inc.).
